3 out of 5

Key Performances:

  Queen Latifah
  Kevin Bacon
  Adele Givens
  Djimon Hounsou
  Alfre Woodard
Movie Haiku:SPLIT DECISION: Jan enjoyed every minute of this easy fluff, in which Latifah reigns as the owner of rundown neighborhood beauty salon. Woodard’s a hoot quoting Maya Angelo. Hounsou’s gorgeous as “the hunk.” (JH to QL: Rrrr! You go, girl!) Rich enjoyed it just enough to stay in his seat.
