Movie Haiku:Critic John Bayley’s well-intentioned remembrance of his wife, writer Iris Murdock. But imagine how poignant “old Iris’s” (Dench’s) descent into the darkness of Alzheimer’s would have been if the screenplay had allowed Winslet to fully convey the brilliance of “young Iris.” All four leads are excellent within the Director’s constraints.
