Movie Haiku:This important piece of Irish Catholic history (about the laundries set-up by the Church to warehouse girls thought sexually precocious) deserves to be well-told, but Jan thought director/screenwriter Mullan overplayed it, preferring melodramatic encounters to naturally-evolving characters. Although conceding to specific points later, Rich was fully engrossed as he watched.
