Jan was born & raised in northern New Jersey, where MILLION DOLLAR MOVIE, THE LATE SHOW, THE LATE LATE SHOW, & THE LATE LATE SHOW II were daily television staples.
While other Dads watched sports, Jan & her Dad snuggled up to historical epics & Roman spectaculars featured on PICTURE FOR A SUNDAY AFTERNOON.
By early adolescence, Jan was bluffing her way into Manhattan movie theaters to see documentaries, indies & foreign films.
Jan has a BA from St. John’s College in Annapolis, Maryland (the
"Great Books”
school) & Masters degrees in Psychology from Harvard University & the University of Chicago. After working for over 20 years as a computer consultant serving the healthcare industry, Jan is now devoting herself full-time to
FILMS FOR TWO plus related freelance speaking & writing projects.
Rich’s Dad was a Foreign Service officer, so Rich traveled the world as a kid, then he caught the movie bug when he arrived at Oberlin College in Ohio in 1971.
Rich spent the early ‘70’s moving back & forth between Oberlin, the Marine Corps Reserve & his parent’s current posting in Rio de Janeiro.
But when he arrived at the University of Chicago for Graduate School in the Fall of 1976, he knew he was finally “home.”
Rich completed his PhD in Philosophy, then made a career switch to Accounting.
He completed an MBA & acquired a CPA while moving up the ladder @ the University of Chicago Hospitals.
He is currently the UCH Controller.
Jan & Rich were blessed with a genuine cinematic “meet cute.”
Rich was in his second year in the Philosophy Department at the University of Chicago when Jan arrived for her interview.
Rich was looking at his mail outside the Department office when Jan found a note from the Chairman posted on the locked door.
He was “running late.” Of course, they started talking & Rich was eager to continue giving advice when Jan enrolled in October.
By summer they were a bona fide couple & they married in 1982.
